Not sure if this goes in music/reviews/pc so I'll let a mod decide.

Im getting new speakers  Smiley

I used to have this ghetto setup

But now I've oredered some Logitech x-540 5.1 surround sound speakers

They're pretty beastly and powerful, great value.

Anyone else got any decent speaker setup's n stuff?

My Altec Lansing setup is actually really nice, considering it was only $120 and very compact. Great sound!

I've got the x540's.
They sound pretty damn good for the price if you keep them under 75% volume.
Also they get hellishly loud at full tilt.
I also have a asus xonar essence STX with a built in amp, which sounds pretty good with my audiotechnica ath-a700's

Audio Technica sounds awesome for headphones. Speakers? No clue.

I got a $250 surround sound system a year or two back. Sounds good, good bass, good vibes...I can't really ask for much more. Sound quality is excellent, the way the noise surrounds you is arguable, but my setup isn't perfect either. With some repositioning it would sound just fine.

Can't really offer any tips, though. If it looks good, and if the reviewers say it's good, then it's good. Just make sure you got the cash. Only thing I can say is don't get ripped off with an abundant lack of inputs. My system has an optical in and AUX, typical red/white L/R channel audio. There's a 1080p DVD upscaler, an iPod dock, plays CDs, has an HDMI out, but the lack of direct sound inputs on the back is a bit aggravating. When time comes to set up a new system, I'll want to have both optical on PS2 and PS3, but that's obviously not gonna work. A splitter might do ok, but that means I can only run one machine at a time, which isn't a big deal.

Just don't get ripped off and not have enough inputs. That's all I can say.
